Snow update

As I had alluded to in the last forecast happened here in Seymour.  There is no snow on the ground here early this morning and also temperatures are well above freezing.  It does look like some areas north and West of this area received a nice amount of snow.  Right now it does look like that the valley areas are mostly above freezing, but areas southwest, north, and northwest have already fallen near to below freezing.  Those areas could already be slick early this morning and motorist in those areas should use caution.  Also be prepared for slick spots here in the valley as we get closer to sunrise as temperatures may drop below freezing.

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Update on Snow possibilities

I think right now that the forecast is still on track for about a inch of snow in the valley and one to three in the higher elevations.  These may be some what high due to the lack of precipitation that remains, but right now I think this is a safe forecast.  Temperatures are still in the upper thirties, but there has a been reports in Crossville area of some light snow to icy conditions where temperatures have dropped.  The biggest issue we will see in the morning is icy roads due to runoff and the light snow we receive.  Keep it here at etweather blog for the latest as information becomes available.

Snow tonight

Well folks it does look like some snow could move into the region tonight.  Most areas will see only a dusting to an inch.  The higher elevations could see as much as one to three inches.  There is a Winter Weather Advisory out for several counties that can be viewed on our weather ticker at the top of the page.  For the most part I do believe right now that our graphic from the last forecast will hold true.  After the rains today and yesterday there is still plenty of runoff and this equals black ice.  So be sure to take it slow for your morning commute.  Be sure to keep it here at ETWeather for the latest as we will be here monitoring temperatures and precipitation as it approaches the region.

Down Time UPDATE

All systems back up and running.

Thanks,
Dustin Jordan

More rain and a change over later: Updated

Starting your Thursday with rain and this rain is expected to continue throughout the day with highs in the upper forties to lower fifties, but expect that to drop through the day.  Tonight we will see rain continue, but a change over is expected sometime tonight.  There is a chance of accumulating snow as temperatures cool down.  Right now we are expecting maybe a inch in the valley and plateau, mountains, and Northeast Tennessee could see as much as one to three inches.  This system is still a little uncertain and if temperatures drop quicker than expected we could see more accumulations.  Remember to keep it here at ETWeather blog for the latest forecasts as it becomes available.

Snow continues

Heavy snow shower photographed in Seymour

Photo taken by: ETWeather's Dustin Jordan

Snow continues to move across East Tennessee this afternoon.  The temperatures here in Seymour dropped into the lower thirties during the little time that the snow shower lasted.  The most we have seen here in most of the valley counties is a dusting.  Expect the possibility of snow showers to continue with lows into the upper twenties tonight.  For your Tuesday look for clearing skies and highs in the upper thirties to lower forties.  A cold night for your Tuesday with lows dropping into the lower to mid twenties.  A nice rebound for your Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower fifties.  Remember to keep it here with ETWeather for the latest coverage on the winter weather across East Tennessee.

Snow update

We are still seeing light to moderate snow across parts of East Tennessee this afternoon. Some areas are seeing light accumulations. The is still been mostly limited to the grassy surfaces. Some areas in the highers elevations and plateau counties may see some issues on the roads. Keep it here at ETWeather for the latest.

Snow begings to fall in parts of East Tennessee

After getting out this morning some snow begins to fall in parts of East Tennessee. In Alcoa area snow is beginning to lay on the grass. I still think most of the accumulation if any will continue to be on the grassy surfaces and not on the roads. Continue to keep it here at ETWeather for the latest as this system moves through East Tennessee. Also if you are traveling to the smoky moutains this morning expect some problems on the road as they have issued a winter weather advisory for parts of that area.

Still looks like a mixed bag for your Monday

The forecast for today calls for a mixture of snow and rain and highs in the upper thirties to lower forties.  There will be little to no snow accumulation.  As we go into tonight expect a slight chance of snow showers with lows in the upper twenties.  We see clearing out for your Tuesday with highs in the lower forties.  A cold night expected for your Tuesday night with lows dropping into the mid twenties.

Very messy forecast for your Monday

Right now there is some confusion going into the forecast for Monday.  Right now it looks like we will see a gradual change over to snow as we go into the early morning hour of Monday.  The lows tonight should drop into the mid to lower thirties.  Expect a really nasty forecast for the rest of your Monday with snow mixed with rain as we go into the afternoon with highs in the upper thirties to lower forties.  There will also be a increase in winds SW ten-fifteen mph.  The information coming in right now I would expect very light accumulations with maybe one inch.  Most of the accumulation if any will be limited to grassy surfaces.  The mountains areas could see one to three inches.  This system will bring much cooler air as we go into Monday and Tuesday nights with lows in the twenties.  Remember to keep it here at ETWeather for the latest on this developing weather situation.  Make sure if you want the latest you can become a follower and anytime there is an update you will get an e-mail.
